We spend so much of our lives searching,
Seeking for something,
Some seek fame,
Some seek money,
Some seek power,
We all want to climb the ladder,
The ladder to the corner office,
The ladder out of poverty,
The ladder that leads to happiness and bliss,
Hoping that when we get this,
Everything will fall into place,
And our problems will vanish,
We spend our lives chasing an illusion,
The illusion that we need more to be happy,
So we spend our whole lives searching,
For something we’ll never find,
And we spend our whole lives waiting and praying,
For something that never comes,
And at the end we realize,
We chased all the wrong things,
We realize that we could have been happy just being content,
But instead we spent our lives chasing an illusion,
We spent our lives chasing the sun.
